If you ever wondered what it’s like to sleep in a bubble, Iceland is happy to provide. It’s newest hotel, Buubble, located less than 2 hours outside of Reykjavik, provides travelers with high tech bubble hotel rooms.
Billed as a “5 Million Star Hotel”, Buubble is your best chance to experience the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights without actually having to give in to the call of the wild.
Buubble assures it’s guests that the rooms are “kept inflated by a slight over-pressure from a noiseless ventilation system”, which is also designed to prevent humidity, and equipped “heating elements with thermostat so the bubble stays warm all winter.”
The founder of Buubble, Robert Robertsson, said he got the idea a few years ago when he was organizing Northern Lights trips for tourists. “It actually all started while I was helping travelers some 2-3 years ago, designing their northern lights trips here in Iceland.
“One evening I got a call from one of my customers who was participating in one of the traditional northern lights tours. They had driven to a mountain, as they often do, and they had been waiting and waiting out in the freezing cold weather.”
