When travelers head off on an American cross-country adventure, they normally do so on four wheels. They hire the coolest car and drive the open road to see what this country has to offer, but what if we told you that you could see so much more by ditching two of those wheels? The United States is home to some of the most stunning bike trails in the world, and these explorations will allow you to see this country from a whole different perspective.
Highway One – Big Sur, CA
Many explorers drive along the Pacific coastline, but those who love to cycle can check it out on two wheels instead. Highway One travels right alongside the ocean, and it’s perfect for those cyclists who don’t want to have to battle with off-road conditions. The water below will be so enticing you might even want to slow down for a dip.
Hiline Trail – Sedona, AZ
There’s nothing quite like cycling through the desert, and that’s exactly what the Hiline Trail has to offer. While this is a fairly short route, the hills and the uneven terrain will certainly put you through your paces. You can check out giant monoliths and buttes along the way, and we have no doubt about the fact that it will be a ride to remember.
Going-To-The-Sun Road – Whitefish, MT
If you have always wanted to ride through a National Park as you take in beautiful waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and luscious forests below, then the Going-To-The-Sun Road has got your back. This trail will take you 32 miles straight through the middle of Glacier National Park, and it’s open to cyclists from early Spring until the Fall.
America is full of amazing bike trails that will keep you entertained every weekend for the rest of your life, but which ones will you try out first? These are definitely our favorites.
